  1. Day 1 Departure from Athens

Departure from Athens or any other major Greek city and transfer to Agios Germanos village in West Macedonia. The village is very close to the Greek borders with FYROM and Albania. Check-in into our hotel and dinner within the premises. Overnight.

  2. Day 2 MTB tour at Agios Germanos

We enjoy our first breakfast in Macedonia with local products. Soon after we grab our bikes and start to descend from Agios Germanos to the next village of Lemos. We enter a dirt road and we start to ascent towards to the top of mount Varnounta. Good terrain and gentle slopes make up the entire climb up to 2000m. At the top we have the opportunity to leave the bikes and hike to nearby peaks that define the border between Greece and FYROM through paths, trenches and other fortifications of the First World War. After the fantastic view we start to descend in order to return to our starting point. This side is densely forested and most of it is located along a river. The downhill forest road brings us back to Agios Germanos. Return in our hotel and later dinner. Overnight.

  3. Day 3 MTB tour at Presepes

We enjoy our breakfast in our hotel. Today’s mountain biking tour is focused around the two Prespa lakes in this northwest corner of Greece. Starting from our hotel we pedal on asphalt road and after the first few ascents we enter a dirt forest road up to almost 1440 meters where we can enjoy the view of the lakes. We descend and soon we are at the picturesque lakeside village of Psarades. From there we continue to reach one of the best observation points of Little Prespa Lake and then we return to the forest and continue the path along the coast of Great Prespa until we reach the village Vrontero. We visit some of the monuments of the Greek Civil War and we head towards the beautiful islet of Agios Achilleas through a floating bridge where we will enjoy a light meal. Return in our hotel and later dinner. Overnight.

  4. Day 4 MTB tour at Zazari and Himaditida

Breakfast and check out of our hotel. Today we move to the second area of the tour in West Macedonia. Today’s MTB route is on our way to the next destination, around the area of the lakes Zazari and Himaditida. Two beautiful lakes in the valley of Amyntaio at 600 meters altitude. The route around the two lakes is mild with very few inclines. We ride exclusively on forest, rural roads and a few asphalt ones with no trails today. The end of our ride will find us at Limnochori village, where we can enjoy a coffee, sweets or traditional ouzo drink with local ”meze” at the picturesque lakeside shops. After the break we continue our trip to reach Agios Athanasios village where our next hotel is located. Dinner in our hotel.

  5. Day 5 MTB tour at Mount Verno

We enjoy breakfast in our hotel and we depart for our starting point of today’s MTB tour. The route includes climbing at Mount Verno and a visit at the preserved villages of Nymfeo and Perikopi. We hop on our ride our bikes and soon we begin to ride at a gentle uphill road in an oak forest leading us at high altitude. The ride continues until we reach the Environmental Centre ARCTUROS where we can have a very interesting visit/experience to the bear shelter. Shortly after the visit we reach the stone-built village of Nymfaio with its unique architecture. After taking a good break, we continue on forest roads on our way up to 1500m altitude until we reach the abandoned village of Perikopi. After strolling through the deserted streets we take a path that was used by the guerrilla forces during the Greek civil war that passes through huge beeches and oaks and leads us to the village Asprogia. From there we continue through forest roads to the villages Sklithro and Agrapidies where the wolf shelter is located and is open to the public for a visit. We end the tour and we return by car to our hotel. Dinner in our hotel.

  6. Day 6 MTB tour at Kaimaktsalan Mountain

The last day of our tour is dedicated to Kaimaktsalan Mountain. It is the third highest mountain in Greece which carries a heavy load of historic importance. Starting from our hotel we begin the climb to the top using dirt and forest roads which they will bring us quickly in front of charming landscapes with oaks and beeches leading us to the ski resort of the mountain. Upon reaching the ski resort we start the difficult uphill to the top as the slopes exceed 10% and even 20% in many parts of the route. The reward on the top of the mountain apart from the fantastic view is the magnificent Slavic church of Prophet Elias.

After the long break we start our descent using another route with dirt roads including some very fast parts. Return to our hotel and later we celebrate our last dinner together in our hotel.
