All about the Aegina Bike tour.

The island is full of history that goes back to ancient times when the state of Aegina was rivals with the neighboring state of Athens over thalassocracy (sea power). In nowadays the island is famous worldwide for its pistachio which is registered as product of Protected Designation of Origin in the EU’s official gazette. The island is extremely bike friendly allowing us to feel relaxed during the ride and to enjoy the scenery and of course the sun and the sea of the Saronic Gulf.

    1. Day1 Aegina Bike Tour

Pick up from your hotel in Athens or a meeting point and then transfer to Piraeus Port. Along with our bikes we embark the ferry to start the approximately 1 hour boat trip to Aegina. Arrival, safety briefing, bike check and we are ready to start pedaling. Our first stop will be only a kilometer later when we meet “Christos Kapralos Museum”. The museum displays many different pieces of art including paintings, drawings ceramics, and sculptures in stone and eucalyptus wood works of exceptional power and sensitivity. We continue heading north, using a coastal road and through pistachio trees we reach Souvala for a short stop at this small port. Then we leave the coastal road and we are heading south for an intermediate uphill route to reach the Temple of Aphaia archaeological site from where you can even see the Acropolis and the Sounio, when the atmosphere is clear. Then we continue to reach Agia Marina small port and from there to the church of Saint Nektarios, one of the most important Saints of Greek Orthodox religion. We conclude the tour in Aegina port where we will enjoy traditional sea food at a local fish tavern. Return at Piraeus late afternoon.
